Enrollment at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) in Curtis is at a 23-year high.

The two-year college has 275 fulltime students this fall, up eight percent from a year ago and 21 percent higher than five years ago.

NCTA Dean Ron Rosati says the success rate of graduates is a big factor behind the steady growth.

“Last year, based on federal government stats, we were the number 11 college in the United States for graduate salaries ten years after graduation,” Rosati says, “and we were the number seven two-year college in the United States on employment rate of graduates, with 92 percent employed.”

NCTA offers two-year associate degrees in agriculture and veterinary programs. It also offers specialty programs with a one-year certificate for high-demand jobs in welding and irrigation technology.

Rosati says the college has recently added a degree in concentrated poultry production to help fill jobs being created by the Costco-Lincoln Premium Poultry chicken project in eastern Nebraska. The program includes a semester of education and training at Mississippi State University.
